Sentro ha Pagpauswag ha Panginabuhi, Inc.
Sentro ha Pagpauswag ha Panginabuhi (SPPI or Center for Local Economy Development) empowers communities in Samar Island, in Eastern Visayas, the Philippines to improve their livelihoods. Despite its natural resources Samar has widespread poverty in rural communities. The average monthly income of a rural family of five people is only three thousand Philippine Pesos (approx US$62).
The Local Economy Development Program (LEDP) works towards community-based livelihoods and enterprise development in 13 municipalities situated in Northern Samar, and in four municipalities in Eastern Samar. LEDP provides funds for livelihoods improvement and diversification and community-based social enterprises. It supports sustainable agriculture practices, coastal resource management and gives income management advice.
